Housing & Neighborhoods Policies and Actions
Plano has many successful, established residential neighborhoods with a variety of housing options. The Plano Tomorrow Housing & Neighborhoods component is part of the Built Environment and includes policies for neighborhood conservation, redevelopment of neighborhoods centers, and special housing needs.

Plano will conserve and enhance established residential neighborhoods through city programs, initiatives, and regulations that support neighborhood identity; ensure safe, walkable communities; and preserve the suburban form that contributes to the overall character and livability of the neighborhoods.
Plano will encourage investment in and redevelopment of underperforming developments within neighborhood centers to accommodate local commercial, retail, and entertainment uses within walking distance of surrounding residents.
